The project
The Kelvin Energy-from-Waste facility is a £500 million green infrastructure development in Sandwell, West Midlands. It was granted planning consent in September 2019 and acquired from developer Verus Energy in 2021.
The plant is designed to process 395,000 tonnes of non-recyclable household and business waste a year, turning waste that would otherwise go to landfill or export into 44MW of baseload electricity, enough for more than 95,000 homes and businesses.
Our scope

With experienced teams and rigorous safety standards, PRL delivered the underground network and structural foundations, laying the groundwork for a facility that will help drive the West Midlands towards net zero.
