The project
Protos Energy Park at Ince Marsh, Cheshire is home to an energy-from-waste plant, a joint venture by Encyclis and Biffa, processing 500,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste a year into 49.9MW of electricity.
A full-scale carbon capture facility is being added, one of the first in the UK integrated with an energy-from-waste plant. It is designed to capture around 370,000 tonnes of CO₂ a year for storage in depleted Liverpool Bay gas fields via the HyNet pipeline.
The challenge
An energy-from-waste build is one of the most labour-intensive jobs in UK construction, and the demand changes as it moves from civils into a large electrical and mechanical installation. The site needed a supplier who could put large numbers of compliance-checked people on site quickly, across many trades and on day and night shifts, and keep it going for months.

How we delivered it
Checked before day one
Every worker's CSCS card, right to work and trade tickets were checked in PRISM before their first shift, with expiry dates tracked for the whole placement.
Scale without the paperwork
Hundreds of starts and finishes managed in one system, with timesheets, documents and assignments in the contractor app.
A project manager on site
A PRL project manager assigned to the site, plus regular visits to check our workforce are OK and being treated properly.
Also at Ince
Alongside Ince Marsh, PRL has supplied 37 people to Carey's on the Protos Carbon Capture works, mainly civils, plant and banksmen on short, fast-turnaround packages.
